Fairy Tales and Mysteries….

Writing No Comments »

In 4P we have started brainstorming our Fairy Tales! By the time we finished Tale of Despereaux we really understood all of the elements of a Fairy Tale.  This week we focused on conflict, objects, and settings in Fairy Tales.  We started talking about the special characters that are in most fairy tales - like helpers, villains, and heroes.

In 4S we started structuring our mysteries.  We are continuing with The Westing Game as we begin to outline our stories.  We have been discussing what makes a mystery, and we began to brainstorm some ideas of our own!

In writing workshop, we wrote autobiographies. We planned them using timelines and artifact writing pieces. Once our parents saw them, they were speechless! Occasionally, we write “whatever you want” stories and we write fiction or non-fiction. It’s fun!

We also wrote “An Autobiography of a Dollar Bill.” We had to pretend to tell the life story of a dollar bill. We wrote about where it was born, some adventures it had, and where it was right now. Some of us liked this so much, we decided to keep working on them! If you want to read one of these stories, contact a fourth grade student official!

Last, but not least, we are just beginning to learn about poetry. We are also working on city and country poems. Go poetry!
